Low Power Mode

INFO

Low Power Mode is coming soon. It is not yet available in the current version of the app.

Low Power Mode reduces how much electricity your system uses when it has nothing to do. When the system has had no load and no charging or discharging demand for 30 minutes, it settles into low power operation and its total consumption drops to around 10 W.

This function is available on Alpha 3600 AC only. If your system is a different model, the setting does not appear in the app.

INFO

Low Power Mode is switched on when your system leaves the factory. You do not need to do anything to benefit from it. You can switch it off if it does not suit the way you use your system.

What happens during low power operation

While your system is in low power operation, it pauses both its AC output and its backup output and sits idle.

WARNING

Anything connected to the AC side or the backup side has no electricity while the system is in low power operation. If you rely on the backup side to keep something running, switch Low Power Mode off.

WARNING

While the system is idle it cannot detect that you have connected an appliance, so it will not start up on its own. You have to wake it at the system itself. There is no way to wake it from the app or remotely.

Wake your system

Press the button on the system. It returns to normal operation in about 10 seconds.

Waking the system is temporary. Once the conditions are met again, that is no load and no charging or discharging demand for 30 minutes, it returns to low power operation. If you want it to stop doing that altogether, switch Low Power Mode off in the app.

Turn Low Power Mode on or off

  1. On the home page, tap Battery to open Device Overview, then tap More Details.
  2. On the Host tab, scroll down to Settings.
  3. Tap Low Power Mode. The row shows whether the function is currently on or off.
  4. Switch the toggle on or off.
  5. Tap Save.

Your setting is only sent to the system once you tap Save. If you leave the page without saving, nothing changes.

If you switch the function off while your system is already in low power operation, the system comes out of it.

Check whether low power operation is running

While your system is in low power operation, a scrolling message appears in the tips bar at the top of the home page: Low power operation. Tap the message to open the tip details. The message disappears once the system comes back to normal operation.

INFO

A system in low power operation is idle and producing no output, which can look like a breakdown, a power cut or a lost connection. It is none of those. The message in the tips bar is there so you can tell the difference.

The tips bar shows one message at a time, so if your battery is heating you will see that message instead. See Battery Heating.

The message follows what your system reports, so it can take a short while to appear or disappear.

If your system is off-grid or offline

Low power operation only happens while your system is connected to the grid. It never starts while the system is running off-grid.

You also cannot switch the function on while the system is off-grid. If you tap the toggle, it stays where it is and a message appears: The device is currently off-grid. This function is unavailable. Once your system is back on the grid, you can change the setting as usual.

If the app has lost its connection to your system, you can still change the setting and save it. Your choice is stored and applied as soon as your system comes back online.

Where Low Power Mode is available

Low Power Mode is released in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom and Luxembourg. The function works the same way in every one of these countries.
