Binding
Bind your devices to a site so that the app can show their data and control them. Before you bind anything, create a site. See Sites.
There are three kinds of device you can bind:
- AlphaESS Devices - your storage system: VT1000 or Alpha 3600 AC, and the P1 Meter and Smart Plug that work with VT1000.
- Grid Meter - the SMILE-A-AECP1-R12-WB grid meter for Alpha 3600 AC. It measures what your home takes from and feeds into the grid, and you need it to use the advanced smart modes.
- Third-Party Devices - Shelly energy meters and plugs.
A meter or plug still reports its readings once it is connected, even when no storage system is bound to the site. Until you bind a storage system, though, you cannot choose a smart mode.
Before you start
Have the following to hand:
- Your storage system, installed, switched on and waiting for network configuration.
- Your grid meter, if you have one, fitted to your household electricity meter and powered on.
- A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network that can reach the internet, and its password. Your devices cannot join a 5 GHz network.
- Your phone, with Bluetooth and location switched on, close to the device.
