EV Charger

When your system includes an EV charger, the AlphaESS App manages it as part of the home energy system.

Check charging status

On the Home page or the EV charger device page, you can view:

  • Whether the electric vehicle is charging

  • Current charging power

When the charger is in working status, its power will be shown in the energy flow diagram.

Power sources used for charging

During charging, power may come from:

  • PV generation

  • Energy storage system

  • Grid

The system will automatically allocate available power based on the current energy state.

Relationship with home energy usage

  • The charger’s electricity consumption is included in the household total consumption statistics

  • In the energy chart, the charger’s consumption is displayed as part of the household load

  • This helps you understand the impact of EV charging on the household energy mix

Charger settings

In systems with AlphaESS chargers connected, you can make simple configurations to the charger’s charging behavior to better match the household energy state.

Description of configurable items

Depending on the device model and system version, you may be able to set:

  • Enable or disable the charger

  • Different charging strategies

  • Maximum allowed charging current or power

  • Whether to prioritize using PV or system power for charging

These settings will affect power allocation and power sources during EV charging.

Usage tips

  • Charging behavior affects daily electricity consumption and profit statistics

  • Charging power may vary with household load and generation conditions

  • If available energy is insufficient, the system may use grid power

  • If you are unsure about the meaning of settings, it is recommended to keep the system default configuration
